I can't believe that on Friday night I will be finally leaving for America.

This is what i've wanted since FOREVER (since i was about 10/11ish).

I am excited, nervous, apprehensive and overall genuinely keen as for this adventure to start.

I'm quite excited about the whole missing NZ winter cause it is already freezing cold here,

I'm just so glad that everything is sorted. My visa (getting picked up Friday arvo) the fares everything is sussed! Sorted! Bags (half) packed and ready to go.

I can't wait.

This whole experience so far has been so nerve rackingly painful so i am well and truely happy to have it all over and done with! Camp friday and a lifetime of memories await me.

Downside is I have two weeks haha. I leave about the 11th of June.

So I have a lot of fun to plan for before that thats for sure!

My mum is in another country so we'll skype it later.
Had to pay super expensive crazy fast post to get her a present in time.

Sorry people, just had to crack a funny.
Ummmmm yeah my status is the ever so boring still currently unplaced!
Suprise suprise!
Got an email saying 'just want to make sure people are still keen, got savings, passport etc'.
I replied with and ever so enthusiastic yes! I have stilll got my savings 100% intact in my bank account. I have a brand new black awesome passport (side note everyone - totally get a new passport, the photos are in black and white THANK GOD! My photo was hideous. I looked as though I had been punched in the face on several occasions, but with the magic of monochrome and BAM! normal looking Catherine appears.)

Im just sitting here, in good ol' Pukekohe, waiting patiently, hoping to hear some good news about my very near future.

I think my fav question is "Oh OMG America that's so awesome! When are you going?"
I pause.
And I really wish it was a pause for dramatic affect.
I truely wish it was.
But it's not.
It's a pause of "good question buddy. I really wish I know so this story could potentially have a little more excitemnt bundled up, but it doesn't"

I still have to get a debit card and sim card trough the CA website. I keep doing the whole 'oh yup this pay day' but then i really need something else or its someones birthday or im moving house or i just really dont wanna touch my savingsssss. But i just really should get it I think. It will be worth it. I might do it like now-ish.

So, approximately half way through April and still nothing.
One month and a half to go.
Super.

Positivity escapes me almost daily, as that is how often I think about how I've yet to be placed and I just cant seem to keep thinking that it's all gonna work out ok.

I'm an intense planner. I like knowing what I'm doing.
If there's an event at work and we need it sorted, I plan. I like planning.
Not like a strict minute by minute plan, but at least a general overview of my actions.
For instance, a date would be a nice place to start.

I've started looking down other avenues and options but to do anything else decent, I have to pretty much double my savings and halve the amount of time ill be in the States.

So for now it's just me, my tv, and my thoughts.

Ok!
So I got an email today telling me that my application hadn't been really circulating properly!!!
GASP!
It had gone through and what not, but had stayed at one camp, instead of doing the rounds!
I was in a weird situation whether to laugh or cry! It explained why I wasn't in a Camp yet, but it also sucks cause I might be in a Camp if it had circulated better!
But thats ok. I'm over it and thankful that this problem was figured out now rather than next month or something (thank you Vicki!).
So now at least I know that it's being looked at and I can once again feel some security. It's from now that I will freak out.
So I will go back to happy dreams of crossing the Pacific to the Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave.
Fingers Crossed everyone!

It's really hard not to get down about this. Like, my interview was in September...SEPTEMBER! it is now (pretty much) March. Thats half a year of waiting to find out. Im a pretty patient person, but this is just getting borderline ridiculous!!!!

I just want to know, so I can be properly excited. I want to go to work and tell everyone that "yay i'm going to (insert camp name here)!!

I mean my savings are looking sweet as, but i want to buy flights, and use the Camp America wallet that I won. I want to take my passport to somewhere other than the Gold Coast, I want to have a massive holiday and meet people and just have a great time!

I guess for now i'll just keep waiting. So ill keep doing the usual.

But I can hope again for this week!
It feels like it should be a good week. Thats my feeling.

I've been working, havent had bills to pay, gonna go see Elvis on Sunday haha! What a weekend ahead. But of course we all know what would make it that little bit better.

I started back at soccer this week just gone. I haven't played since grade 11 so like 3 years ago. You couldn't half tell haha. I was only one big great ball of rust. Thats ok though. Im sure it shouldn't take long to get some mad skills going...here's hoping!

I have a day off today. Until four anyway. I'm going to do some general cleaning in my room. Pump a bit of Ke$Ha and i've got myself a day planned.

I really like planning things, I get way too into it. Thats why I can't wait to get placed to start planning! Cause at the moment I only have ideas, and as fun as ideas are, plans take the cake! From my laptop I look up and see my USA lonely planet guide and my insight guide Usa on the road. And that doesn't want to make me plan at all!!!! (note-sarcasm)

Its ok, i have to look at this as improving my patience skills. Im basically giving ghandi a run for his money. Or is he poor on choice? Strange man.

Ok enough rambling for one day.

The moral of this blog - I am still yet to be placed in a Camp.

February is in the Air.

So it is nearly February, (although the weather is trying to tell me otherwise) and i'm still waiting. I know that I might not hear anything until April, but a girl can't help but get a bit down over this. Its not very comforting. I've been attempting to stay busy, hitting up the big city for gigs, Parachute this weekend, taking soccer back up, but it dwells.

Im saving a lot though, im trying to look at this from a $$ perspective, that gives me more time to save. Its really funny cause I have never saved in my LIFE! I'm a chronic spender, but I have never been so tight with my money. As my parent live in various parts of the country/world, I have to pay rent/bills, but I am still managing to save some precious pennies everyweek. I'm really quite proud of myself. And if I dont get into Camp, I'm buying an iphone haha not really, I'll still go to america, just travel probably, but an iphone would be awesome.

Thursdays are my favourite day of the week...PAYDAY! The one perk of working full time. Its great, and although yes, most of it goes again, but thats ok. Cause at least, for a day, my bank balance is in 3 digits haha!

Ok I'm talking an obscene amount of nothing, and I should really get ready for work. Maybe this will be the week I get a Camp. Fingers Crossed!

Rang in the New Year with a few TRILLION people (*hyperbole) at the Mount. I think that was my last big New Year. Having people fighting, crying, vomiting everywhere is just not the sort of environment I want to be in, Oh well, I still have a whole nother year to plan the next!

So here's hoping I get into a camp soon. Im not too sure how much more I should reassure myself "oh it's allgood, you still have a couple of months". Cause its already 2010, and last year went really fast, if it could just slow down a little that would be good.

On a brighter, less ominous note, I won a travel wallet on the Camp America faceboook page! I had to get 10 friends to join, and I get it yay! Can't wait for that to come in the mail! I love getting mail.

Waiting officially sucks!
Well it's ok. I'm kind of just keen to start the process and what not. I was kind of torn because I want to get placed, but I also wanted it to hold off till the new year so I had money for Xmas presents and what not. Xmas shopping is all out of the way now though so here's hoping I have to beat Camps off! Well, one would do anyway :)
Someone in my town organised this High School Reunion thing Saturday night (which was weird cause I was only at that school for like two years before moving to Aussie) and it was pretty lame. Seeing people was cool and everything especially the couple of people who had been to Camp over in America. Just talked up how awesome it was (cue jealousy).
But that's ok.
I can wait.

Just Waiting

So everything has just (finally) been approved! It was a bit of a hassle with wrongly dated references from my High School, but everything smoothed itself out and now it's just a matter of waiting, which, will probably be the hardest part.
I'm a patient person, but i doubt it will be able to hold up much longer. Everywhere I look around my room is a direct correlation to Camp America or the USA. Books, maps, posters, dvd's, money tins...everything! Im sure it will be way better once I can actually say ive been there rather than just sit here and wonder what its like.
Hopefully that one is not too far away!
Oh well, I guess its all just a waiting game now.
